SUMMIT SCIENTIFIC WELCOMES NEW PRINCIPAL ENGINEER ERIC LAFOREST

Design Consultant Specializing in High‐performance FPGA Applications and Linux

Eric LaForest has been added as the newest member of the Summit Scientific team of experts as a Principal Engineer. He holds a PhD and MASc in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Independent Studies (BIS) from the University of Waterloo, and a Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology from Algonquin College.

Dr. LaForest’s research was based on “High Speed Soft‐Processor Architecture for FPGA Overlays” where he designed the Octavo high‐speed soft processor family (500 MHz, Stratix IV FPGA), invented logic design techniques for early timing closure and parallel scaling as well as publishing three conference papers, including a journal article on soft‐processor design.

He also has strong embedded software development skills with an emphasis on the Linux operating system. In addition to providing design services for FPGA applications, he has over 20 years of experience working in Linux environments that include system administration, application development, embedded and real time programming, and kernel module development.

Dr. LaForest is an exciting addition to the Summit Scientific team and brings a deep academic background along with extensive hands‐on industry experience to our firm.
